The DofE awards programme gives young people the chance to make friends, have fun and build confidence in an empowering, exciting and non-competitive learning environment. By taking part, young people build on a huge range of practical and character skills – like resilience, problem-solving, team-working and drive – and come out the other side with a stronger sense of self.
Your DofE journey starts with the bronze award, which you can start in the school year you turn 14. With several DofE programmes being cut from schools, Scouts offers the ideal opportunity to complete this award. Offering a structured programme, a dedicated team of volunteers help to steer young people to achieving their goals, combining a lot of the skills already learnt through Scouting and at the same time meeting Scouts from other local Scout groups.
It's something really brilliant to put on a CV, or to talk about in university and job applications.
