What to wear or bring
At Boughton Monchelsea, all Sections wear the same Group scarf and navy blue activity trousers, preferably with lots of pockets. Each Section wears a different colour top; Squirrels wear red, Beavers turquoise, Cubs dark green and Scouts teal.
As the uniform can be expensive, the most important item to buy initially is the shirt or sweatshirt where all the badges will be sewn onto after being invested. These can be purchased from a variety of online stores or scoutshop.org.uk. We sometimes have second hand uniform available, so speak to the Section Leader to see what is available. Or if you are unsure about sizes, again, speak to the Section Leader who may have samples for you to look at.
As for the navy blue activity trousers, it is not necessary to purchase official Scouting trousers with a logo on. Any navy blue trousers or cargo trousers will do as long as they are not jeans or jogging bottoms.
A Group activity t-shirt, which is part of the initial joining fee, will also be provided for when you join the Group however you may be required to purchase new t-shirts if lost or too small.
Should certain activities require us to be outside we will let you know so coats can be worn. In certain Sections, there may also be the need for torches and/or walking or waterproof shoes but again, advance notice will be given when they are required.
You will also be advised in advance of any additional items needed for a specific Scouting activity. These may be totally random things like, pringle tubes, jam jars, toilet roll centres. Who knows……but that’s the fun!!
